However, in a recent interview with Observer, new cast member Brian Tyree Henry dropped some spicy details about the sequel. These details, I believe will be embraced by some and questioned by others. According to Henry, we might be getting a little backstory on the sound-sensitive alien monster creatures or at the very least learn about how the whole thing happened.
I can see people worried that revealing too much about the monsters might ruin their mystique. Less is more, right? I can see people comparing the situation to the Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, where the more we learned about Michael Myers and Freddy Kruger, the less interesting those films became. All valid concerns. However, on the flip side, A Quiet Place (easily one of the best films of 2018 by the way) isn’t a straight-up horror film. There is an interesting sci-fi element there as well, much like Ridley Scott’s Alien. So, perhaps providing some backstory could add an interesting layer to the world that Krasinski is building. A Quiet Place is set to be released in March 2020.
