The leak first appeared on Weibo, the popular Chinese microblogging and social media platform, and was picked up by the Japanese online publication, Sumahodigest. As per the post that seems to have already been taken down, the phone is expected to feature more or less the same flagship hardware and specs as the bigger and equally as premium Xperia 1 IV. While the list has yet to be finalised, it’s very, very likely that the phone will receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The components that are expected to set the Xperia 5 IV apart from its predecessor, though, is the amount of memory it is expected to have, as well as its main camera module. To start, the phone could ship out with 12GB RAM, rather than the standard 8GB that all previous iterations of the phone usually have. As for the Xperia 5 IV’s main camera, it’s still expected to be the same triple 12MP array, comprising a wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lens. This time, however, the telephoto lens on the phone is rumoured to be the same as the one on the 1 IV. In other words, it’s a telephoto lens capable of seamlessly shifting focal lengths between 85mm and 125mm, or zoom levels between 3.5x and 5.2x. Moving on, the Xperia 5 IV is also supposed to get a 5000mAh but more importantly, wireless charging will be a new addition to it, given how its predecessors never had the feature. Oh, and the display should measure in at 6.1-inchs and still run at Full HD+. Of course, these are all just rumours and to that end, we’re just going to have to wait until Sony officially announces the device.
