A few weeks ago, several consumers complained that the USB ports on their AMD 500 series motherboards were causing issues and undergoing random and intermittent disconnection, or just simply going offline. For a select few, the USB issue also extended to their USB-powered audio devices being affected as well, with some headphones and speakers suffering from the dreaded crackling and breaking on their DACs and amplifiers.
The latter issue was made even more glaring when they were paired with or used simultaneously with high-end graphics cards or capture cards. Prior to AMD’s firmware update, one solution to the problem was to drop the PCIe Gen4 standard down a notch to Gen3, or switch the USB 3.0 port to USB 2.0. It wasn’t the most ideal of solutions, but at that point, it was the only way to resolve the issue. (Source: AMD via Reddit, Videocardz)
