In terms of design, the Beoplay EQ sports a stemless main body for both earbuds – similar to the Samsung Galaxy Buds models or Sony’s WF-1000XM series. B&O says the new product is made from durable premium materials with IP54 sweat and dust resistance, and on each side is an aluminium touch interface for playback management, calls and so on. The device is said to be ergonomically shaped to fit comfortably on a person’s ears and a variety of ear tips are also included in the package to ensure a snug fit.
The earbuds come with electro-dynamic 6.8mm drivers which is capable of delivering a sensitivity of 107dB ± 3dB, 1kHz @-3 dBFS, a frequency range of 20 – 20,000Hz, and impedance of 17 Ohm +/-2.55 @ 1KHz. The Beoplay EQ uses Adaptive ANC that is powered by a dedicated ANC DSP chip and six built-in microphones, enabling automatic adjustments to the noise cancelling levels in any environment. Both its ANC feature and audio equaliser can be fine tuned further via Bang & Olufsen’s mobile app that is available on Android and iOS.
Battery-wise, the brand claims that the new earbuds are able to last for up to 20 hours when used together with its charging case. On their own, the Beoplay EQ is said to run for six and a half hours with ANC on, or seven and a half hours with noise cancelling switched off. The charging case itself can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly via a compatible Qi charging pad.
The B&O Beoplay EQ is offered in either Black Anthracite and Sand Gold Tone colours and is priced at US$399 (~RM1,684). The new product is slated to be available globally on 19 August 2021, although it is uncertain if Malaysia will also see its arrival. (Source: Bang & Olufsen [1] [2])
