Dell claims that the UltraSharp Webcam came about when the company wanted one that had the image quality of a DSLR. To that end, this webcam has a Sony STARVIS 4K CMOS sensor, and a multi-element lens. It also supports HDR, which the company claims allows the webcam to adjust exposure to the lighting condition of where you are. That being said, it doesn’t come with built-in lighting. Nor does it have any built-in microphones, while we’re on the subject.
What the Dell UltraSharp Webcam does have is an auto-framing feature, which uses AI to keep you focused and centred. It works similarly in practice to Apple’s Center Stage that we saw on the latest iteration of the iPad Pro. You also get limited field of view customisation, giving you a choice of 65 degrees, 78 degrees or 90 degrees. There’s also a five times digital zoom. The Dell UltraSharp Webcam supports Windows Hello, allowing for facial recognition sign in to the connected PC. Naturally, there’s the bonus benefit of using it with a Dell PC, giving you access to the ExpressSign-in feature. This locks your PC automatically when you walk away from it. On the subject of privacy, it also comes with a magnetic privacy cover, which you can snap to the back while the webcam is in use. It also snaps to the provided mounts magnetically.
