To summarise what was previously reported prior to this, the GoPro Hero9 Black features a 23.6MP sensor that is capable of recording up to 5K video and snap 20MP photos. Also included in the camera are new features such as HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilisation with in-camera horizon levelling, TimeWarp 3.0 with Real Speed and Half Speed recording capabilities, Live Streaming and Webcam modes in 1080p, pre-shutter recording with HindSight, LiveBurst, Scheduled Capture, and much more.
Like its predecessor, the Hero9 retains a front-facing display but now as a 1.4-ich full colour screen with live preview and status modes. On its back is a 2.27-inch touchscreen display, and powering the device is a new removable 1,720mAh battery that can withstand colder temperatures. Other features include voice controls, advanced wind-noise reduction via 3 microphones, removable lens cover, built-in folding mounting fingers and, of course, a rugged body and is waterproof up to 33ft (10m). Alongside the Hero9 Black are its new mod packs; the Max Lens Mod, Media Mod, Display Mod, and the Light Mod. Chief among these is the Max Lens Mod, which acts as an extension of the camera’s lens. This enabled the Hero9 to have an ultra-wide 155-degree field-of-view via Max Superview, and Max HyperSmooth video stabilisation with horizontal lock.
As mentioned earlier, the GoPro Hero9 Black is available in Malaysia at select retailers today, and is priced at MYR2,099. The Light Mod is priced at RM249 and is available today as well, while the Display Mod will only arrive in Q4 2020 and will retail at RM399. Prices for the Max Lens Mod and Media Mod have yet to be determined, and are also expected to be available locally by Q4 this year.
