To recap our previous report, the HONOR X8 5G sports a slightly smaller display than its 4G sibling, specifically at 6.5-inches. It is a notched IPS LCD panel with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Despite the reduced size, the phone shares a similar design to the original – complete with a rounded square island for its rear camera array, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C port. Under its hood is a Snapdragon 480+ chipset, which is actually a decent entry-level 5G-enabled chipset from Qualcomm. Despite its older manufacturing process, the chip is considered as a powerful alternative to the original’s Snapdragon 680. Besides that, the SoC is offered together with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD. And just in case you’re still keeping tabs on the hardware differences, this is the same memory configuration as the 4G variant. Powering the phone is a larger 5,000 mAh battery, which also features 22.5W fast charging support. Besides that, the handset comes with Android 11 via HONOR’s Magic UI 4.2 interface, as well as Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. In terms of imaging, the HONOR X8 5G is equipped with one less sensor and features a smaller megapixel count for its primary camera. Replacing the original’s 64MP sensor is a 48MP shooter, which is paired together with 2MP macro and 2MP depth cameras. Meanwhile, located in front of the phone is an 8MP selfie camera that is housed within its display’s notch. The HONOR X8 5G is available for purchase in Malaysia starting today at a retail price of RM 999. In conjunction with its launch, the brand is also offering one year extended warranty worth up to RM 119 with the new device. (Source: HONOR Malaysia press release)
