ORIGINAL STORY (30 Nov / 12:34 PM): Aside from the new Yoga Slim 7i Carbon, Lenovo is also working to bring another model under Yoga series into Malaysia shortly. While the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon has a traditional clamshell form factor, the new Yoga 9i is a convertible 2-in-1 laptop that is essentially what Yoga series is originally about. It is an optional feature (according to Lenovo’s website) but users can actually have a real, authentic leather cover on the lid of Yoga 9i. The company said that it took 20 steps to integrate the leather into the laptop’s aerospace-grade metal chassis and Lenovo will also provide customers that choose the leather option for their Yoga 9i with an edge-to-edge glass palm rest.
Lenovo has also implemented the Yoga soundbar on Yoga 9i’s rotating hinge which has the ability to deliver 360-degrees sound output alongside the support for Dolby Atmos contents, regardless of the position that users put the laptop on. The convertible laptop also comes with an active pen that can be charged and stored via a dedicated garage slot. Since the laptop is not yet available in Malaysia, Lenovo has yet to release the full specs list for its local release. According to the general specs though, the new laptop can be obtained with up to 11th Gen Intel Core i7, 16GB LPDDR4X RAM, and 1TB PCIe solid state drive. In terms of the laptop’s 14-inch display panel, customers can choose to equip it with up to 4K IPS panel that is also VESA HDR400 and Dolby Vision compliant alongside having 90% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. Having a 4K display would lower down its battery life to 11 hours though for video playback as compared to Full HD display panel that is rated at up to 18 hours. When it comes to availability, the 14-inch variant of Lenovo Yoga 9i will be made available for pre-order in Malaysia starting from 12 December 2020. With an estimated starting price of RM 6399, the laptop is expected to be available in retail stores in January 2021.
