While Dr Koh praised the app by saying that contact tracing would not have been possible during the height of the pandemic without it, he opines that MySejahtera might have outlived its usefulness. Instead, he suggested that the app be put to better use for something like a centralised personal health record system, as it already has a large user base while the contact tracing feature should be preserved for a future pandemic.
Meanwhile, Kuching MP Kelvin Yii has also joined the call to end MySejahtera check-ins by proposing a “green pass” system. Instead of scanning QR codes, the proposed system would only require users to display their passes to enter premises. He said that those who qualify for the green pass would be allowed to do any activity stipulated by the government. For added security, he suggests that the system run on blockchain technology to make it more difficult to fake information. (Source: The Star.)
