It is said that Apple’s upcoming portable desktop computer will come with more ports than the current model. This is likely to emphasise more towards power users who rely on the machine for server operations, software development or multimedia editing. However, Gurman did not specifically mention what type of ports that are added on the next-gen model nor detailed its supposed redesign. On that note, YouTuber Jon Prosser says that the upcoming Mac Mini will feature a new external chassis with a “plexiglass-like” reflective surface and a magnetic power port, while also retaining the familiar aluminium enclosure. The leakster previously shared renders of the device’s alleged refreshed design back in May, which he claims to have been based on information provided by Apple internal sources. As mentioned earlier, one supposedly significant addition to the next-gen Mac Mini is Apple’s latest (but unannounced) high-end M1X silicon. Details of the chip are still a mystery for now, but several sources claim that the M1 successor will be making its way into the newer MacBook Pro models as well. Seeing that the chip will be an upgrade over last year’s first-party processor, it is very likely that the M1X would offer a boost in performance over its predecessor. Gurman added that the refreshed Mac Mini will launch alongside several other newer Apple products in the “next several months”. Meanwhile, a recent report by Digitimes (via MacRumors) suggests that the company will begin unveiling several of its Fall 2021 line-ups from September onwards, with one of which purportedly being the 9th generation iPad.
