[Original Article: 12:13am, 13 July 2022] The Nothing phone (1) has been teased over the past few months. Company founder Carl Pei also decided to unveil the device ahead of its launch as an anti-leak measure. Finally, the phone has now been officially launched. With the official announcement, we also got some items from the spec sheet of the Nothing phone (1). Starting with the screen, the device comes with an AMOLED display with support for HDR10+, a refresh rate of 120Hz and a sampling rate of 240Hz. The phone is sandwiched by two pieces of Gorilla Glass 5. Underneath the screen is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset powering the Nothing phone (1). Powering the device is a 4500mAh battery which supports 33W charging. Pei claims that the phone can be fully charged in one hour, and comfortably last more than a day. In addition to the conventional wired charging, the phone also supports 15W wireless charging, as well as 5W reverse wireless charging. For cameras, there are only two at the rear of the Nothing phone (1), as the early unveiling has shown. Now, Pei has revealed that they are both 50MP sensors, one being the Sony IMX766, with dual image stabilisation support. The latter is the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 which will serve as the wide angle camera in this dual camera setup. While most of the images of the Nothing phone (1) has shown the device coming in white, Pei has revealed that a black coloured variant exists. As for its RAM and storage configurations, Pei has revealed that there are three – 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB. Locally, the first two will be priced at RM2399 and RM2699 respectively. The final configuration, which is only available in black, does not have a local price yet. As for their availability, the Nothing phone (1) will be generally released on 21 July, but it will only reach our shores on 1 August. The final configuration would also be coming at a later date, though no specifics have been provided yet on that front. It’s also worth noting that the phone will not come with a charger plug in the box, only the USB-C cable. The Nothing phone (1) will kick off its Malaysian availability this August through its flagship e-commerce stores on Lazada and Shopee, as well as local electronic retailers such as SenQ , SenHeng , TMT , Direct D and Satu Gadget. In addition, those interested to pre-order the device may also visit the brand’s pop-up store which will be based at The Starhill, Bukit Bintang starting 21 until 25 July.
