According to XDA Developers, a custom ROM developer found two new devices codenamed “Stormcaster” and “Friday” hidden in NVIDIA’s latest public source release. “Stormcaster” explicitly refers to the SHIELD controller and “Friday” as the Shield Remote.
Further investigation reveals that “Stormcaster” is a Shield Bluetooth HID controller that also connects over USB. While “Friday” is reportedly just a Shield Bluetooth HID remote that does not come with any USB input. When asked about the codenames, NVIDIA said that neither codenames were for products that had been launched publicly, neither were they in the production pipeline. That said, the codenames were found within a public source release, and NVIDIA isn’t denying the existence of said products either.
In any case, NVIDIA has not released any information regarding the new remote and controller for the Shield TV. There’s no indication as to when the GPU brand intends to do so either, so we’d advise against holding your breath for now. (Source: XDA Developers)
