However, things have changed earlier today as Pos Malaysia has released the fourth official statement which finally has provided a clearer picture of what caused the prolonged disruption that is actually still going on until now. As it turns out, the reason was a malware attack. According to the statement, Pos Malaysia decided to deactivate selected systems and online services after it detected the attack on Sunday. The company has also revealed that authorities including the Royal Malaysia Police have been informed about the malware attack. Despite the incident, Pos Malaysia insisted that customers’ data and personal information remained safe. Additionally, several of its systems and online services are now gradually accessible while over the counter services continue to be available at Pos Malaysia’s branches nationwide. However, the statement didn’t provide any timeline for the full restoration of Pos Malaysia’s internal system and online services. All in all, it seems that the attack was quite major and has a major impact on the company’s operations. (Source: Pos Malaysia.)
