To be fair, CES 2019 won’t be the first time Samsung will demonstrate the technology. Back in May, the brand showcased a fully working demo unit of the technology during the SID Display Week. According to Samsung, the technology uses a combination of bone conduction technology and vibration made from beneath the display. It apparently provides Samsung even more leeway with the display size. If the idea of having sound outputted directly through a display sounds familiar, it’s because Samsung isn’t the first company to actually showcase the technology. Prior to this, Xiaomi’s first generation Mi Mix was the first device to incorporate the piezoelectric technology into it. If all goes well, it’s very likely that we could see Samsung’s “Sound on Display” technology making its official debut on its next flagship device, which at this point, is the Galaxy S10. Though, it should be pointed out that this might be unlikely, especially since the brand only recently announced its new flexible display during its annual conference. On that note, there’s also talk that if this technology kicks off for Samsung, the company might just extend and incorporate the technology into its next lineup of smart TVs. Once again though, it wouldn’t be the first brand to utilize such technology with their TVs; that honor actually goes to Sony and its Acoustic Surface TVs. (Source: BGR via ETNews, YouTube)
