The issue first came to light via Reddit and Samsung’s Community Forums, where users who purchased the phone listed down some quirks with the display of their S20 FE’s display. Some of the issues include the scrolling to be “jerky” at the start of the motion, followed by a slow scrolling gesture registering as a super-fast swipe.
For one S20 FE owner, his phone’s touchscreen issues include oversensitivity, where touching just the edge of the screen will automatically pick up the interaction. His phone also reportedly suffered from “ghost-touching”, a phenomenon where the screen simply reacts as if someone is performing tasks on it, even when they aren’t. In the case of 9to5Google, their S20 FE review unit would turn on “pocket” mode, even their writer was holding the phone in hand.
The silver lining to this story, however, is that the issue may be isolated cases that in turn mean that the affected phones came from an early batch of units. Couple that with the fact that Samsung’s displays are rarely affected by touchscreen issues, it’s little wonder that these problems may have flown under the company’s radar.
