According to Quandt, Samsung has brought back the alleged Galaxy S21 FE’s support pages to several of its regional websites. As we’ve reported prior to this, these were previously taken down earlier this month due to unspecified reasons. Granted, most will take this as a sign that the company is yet again gearing up to launch the unannounced smartphone. But the question remains: when will we finally see it? Unfortunately, no one has a concrete answer to that question at this time – aside from the usual speculations and unconfirmed claims.
— Roland Quandt (@rquandt) October 26, 2021 Quandt’s lead also encouraged us to do some digging of our own, which brought us to an interesting discovery. Not only did we find that the alleged Galaxy S21 FE’s support page is present on Samsung’s Malaysian website, we’ve also discovered that the model number differs from the one listed for other regions. Specifically, the supposed phone’s model number in countries such as France, Italy and Singapore is listed as SM-G990B/DS. In Malaysia and Africa, on the other hand, the alleged phone is listed as SM-G990E/DS.
This could mean that the latter region’s version of the Galaxy S21 FE might come in a different configuration, with the more likely differentiating factor being its chipset. We’re not sure what the “E” in the local version of the Galaxy S21 FE’s model number represents, however. Using its sibling’s as reference; Samsung lists the Snapdragon 888-equipped Ultra variant in the US with the model number SM-G998U, while the Exynos 2100-equipped model for international markets came with the model number SM-G998B/DS. Leaked Geekbench scores reported by publications such as SamMobile and GSMArena prior to this suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will come in Snapdragon and Exynos versions. As to which chipset the Malaysian release will be getting, we’ll only find out whenever Samsung is finally ready to officially announce this mythical smartphone.
