According to ETnews, Samsung believes that there are enough chargers around already. At the same time, the company is looking to reduce the production costs in order to offset ever higher smartphone prices. Granted, it’s not a particularly expensive item to begin with, unlike the phones’ screens.
That being said, Samsung has yet to finalise its plans to not include the charger for its phones. And according to the report, it’s not something that the company plans to do with every phone it makes. Also, as mentioned earlier, if this plan goes into effect, it will only affect phones that have been scheduled to release next year. This means the devices coming with the upcoming Unpacked event will still definitely come with one. On one hand, if you’ve been constantly buying phones for the past few years, then this is not a problem. But if you’re someone who can maximise the lifespan of their devices, and are particular about using only the adapter and cable that came from the box, then this may be cause for concern. Of course, there’s also the matter of if there will be a visible reduction in price for consumers. (Source: ETnews)
