Originally rumoured as the successor to Xperia 1, the device turned out to be a slightly smaller phone that carries plenty of features from the flagship device. Alongside its 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio, the Xperia 5 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, triple 12MP cameras on its back, 8MP front camera, and a 3140mAh battery. Fast forward to yesterday, it turns out that Xperia 5 has been certified for release by SIRIM, as highlighted by reader Mohd Ridzuan on our Facebook page:
We then immediately reached out to Sony Malaysia’s representative who has confirmed that the Xperia 5 will indeed be released in our market. However, the phone’s actual launch date and pricing will only be announced at a later date as the company is still finalizing the phone’s launch for Malaysia. Even though Xperia 1 has been confirmed for release in Malaysia prior to today’s revelation, we are still surprised that Sony did the same for Xperia 5 as well, given what the company has said during a presentation back in May.
Nevertheless, do stay tuned for more updates regarding the imminent arrival of Xperia 5 in Malaysia coming your way very soon.
