The distributor recently posted the announcement of the price reduction on Zotac Malaysia’s official Facebook page with the words “Massive Knockdown” plastered on the posters, and rightly so. To that end, consumers will now be able to purchase a brand new RTX 2080 Super Twin for RM2048, while the top-tier RTX 2080 Super Amp Core RGB version of the card retails for RM2189.
For those among you looking for something a little lower down the performance ladder, Zotac’s RTX 2070 Super graphics cards start from RM1799 for its Super Air variant, while its highest tier Amp Extreme model will retail for RM1919. A representative of Sun Cycle told us that one of the main reasons for drastically reducing the prices of their RTX 2070 Supers and RTX 2080 Supers was due to both the launch and starting price of NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 30 Series. For the uninitiated, earlier last week, NVIDIA launched its new GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards, with the starting prices of the series’ RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090 following soon after.
At a starting SRP of RM2399 for the RTX 3070 and with the card reportedly being more powerful than an RTX 2080 Ti, it’s little wonder that Sun Cycle wishes to cut their losses before they even consider bringing in Zotac’s own custom cooled versions of the new cards. On a related note, don’t be alarmed if the cards aren’t being sold at the new prices at online retail sites or PC retail shops just yet. Sun Cycle says that this is because the price drop only just started, but they should kick in soon. Once again, do note that this hefty price reduction is only being applied to Zotac cards; at the time of writing, there’s still word if other graphics cards brands will follow suit or stick to their guns until the official availability of the new GeForce RTX 30 Series.
